How do we do it?
At Clipper Models, we use industry-leading Bambu Lab X1 Carbon and A1 3D printers to produce our custom model airport accessories with precision and reliability. These printers are known for their high-speed performance, multi-material capabilities, and consistent print quality—features that are critical when working at 1:400 scale. The enclosed chambers and Active Vibration Compensation Enable Excellent Layer Adhesion and Fine Surface Detail, ensuring that every jetbridge or terminal piece we produce meets the highest standards of realism and durability. With automated calibration systems and advanced cooling controls, we’re able to maintain sharp tolerances across large production runs without compromising quality. This level of control enables us to deliver accurate, Clean Models Directly from the printer, reducing post-processing time and improving overall efficiency.
Materials are just as important as machines, and that’s why we primarily use high-quality PLA (polylactic acid) and PLA+ filament for most of our product line. PLA is a renewable, biocompatible material that offers excellent printability and dimensional accuracy, making it ideal for intricate designs like jetbridge structures and terminal details. Its smooth finish and rigidity help create a professional look while maintaining the strength needed for repeated handling. Because PLA is derived from plant-based sources like corn starch, it’s not only safe to use but also environmentally friendly—its natural biodegradability and compatibility with the human body have even made it suitable for medical implants and tissue engineering.
